Newcastle, Uk

chinese food in uk.

is that all you ate?!? braised beef rice aka niu nan fan???

wait wait wait! let me explain myself.. yang and mum were craving for chinese and though i would rather grab something from marks and spencer's, it was two against one no ifs no buts. it's funny though seeing how we never order niu nan fan from chinese restaurants back in singapore...also, i know the idea of chinese food does not exactly conjure up images of hot soppy-in-gravy braised beef smothered all over jasmine rice but it sort of served as a benchmark, a yardstick for how good the chinese restaurant was.

so we had niu nan fan in

newcastle

edinburgh

and london

i guess after polishing off that many plates, i SHOULD technically be able to distinguish vital qualities necessitous for a figure-busting tongue-whipping bathroom-scale-tipping plate of niu nan fan.

the beef should be chewy enough to induce a sensational bounce-y good time but tender enough to not subject your jaws to a workout. the gravy? thick enough to coat the tender beef pieces yet runny enough to seep through every nook and cranny in between the rice grains. the vegetables sandwiched between the beef and rice should ideally be green and leafy..

wow, with that anal description, i guess this officially confirms that i SHOULD devote my time to better causes.. hmm perhaps to one of those celebrity flag-bearing charities.

alright then, signing out.
