Chinese New Year Flowers

Over the past few years, I have been making floral arrangments for my mum and mother-in-law for Chinese New Year and this year was no exception. I was really saddled with wok and seriously contemplated giving this year's do a miss. I'm really glad I decided to bite the bullet and make a trip to the extremely-crowded nursery for another spin.

This year, I tried using cabbage flowers as the centrepiece. I was hesitant but I think they worked out well. I even played with the iPhone photo settings and whoa, don't you think they look amazing in stage lighting?

It truly gives me joy to create these floral arrangements.Hope I will have more opportunities to do so this year.

CNY 2019 // Fleur edition

The one thing I was looking forward to for Chinese New Year was creating floral centrepieces. Similar to last year, I made 3 different arrangements - for my mum, mother-in-law and myself. I made a rather last minute trip to Far East Flora and was surprised to see quite a few varieties left in the nursery. Phew!

This year, the theme kinda revolved around hydrangeas, orchids, chrysanthemums... and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the results. =)

#1 for my mum

Kept #2 for myself

#3 for my mother-in-law

Native Flowers & Orchids

This weekend, instead of making a mess in the kitchen, I decided to channel my creative juices into flowers. Made a couple of floral bouquets for my mum and mother-in-law's concert performance 🌼🌿🌸

My mother-in-law's favourite brand. I saved the ribbons from all the gifts she got me.

Rest of Lunar New Year

More of the F word ... Family and flowers!

Lunar New Year is almost over... Boo. But I think we are glad to be returning to normalcy. I'm super glad we got to spend alot of time together with our extended family and the boys are at the age when they are heaving in the festivities and downing one too many kueh bahlus.

I made a couple of flower arrangements for my mum and family friend for their house parties. This year, I plan to take my flower hobby a little more seriously. Who knows where this will take me.

Wishing you all happiness and paws-partity in the year of the dog!

Lunar New Year // Fleur edition

One step closer to my retirement dreams. Being a florist is backbreaking work! But I'm glad I made CNY flowers for my parents and in-laws this year. After making these, I'm just so inspired to create more!
