Food for Thought, 8Q

As a usually deskbound employee, lunch hour is pretty sacred to me. * Adjusts joss-, I mean chopsticks waist belt * I rather eat alone than eat with company I don’t enjoy (cringe), or worse, not eat (shudder).

I think to some people, it seems almost unfathomable to eat alone but to me, life lunch hour is too short to waste it on bad company and food. Most people end up gossiping about others during lunch time anyway and I can do without that bad aftertaste in my mouth.

On a happier fifi frivolous note, a bad aftertaste was the last thing any of us experienced after lunch at Food for Thought (8Q). It was my first time at this particular outlet and I thoroughly enjoyed the tasty morsels and quick service.

We had the Full Works, Szechuan Beef Salad, Slowcooked Broccoli Salad, Basil Chicken linguine and Red Velvet Cake.

I’m not hot on hashbrown balls or scrambled eggs, but the brioche hiding under the scrambled eggs was WTF-good. The brioche was a savoury rich butter block - exactly the sort of thing that clogs your arteries but it was one of those things I couldn’t stop picking. I guess if you take tiny, itty-bitty bites, you are indirectly reducing a blockage, no?

I missed the tongue-numbing feeling of Szechuan peppers but the caramelised onions and thyme pumpkin more than made up for that inadequacy.

The Red Velvet Cake was yummy enough for an end-of-the-week treat but I really don’t see the fuss. Being fresh out of the fridge, it tasted more like a frozen mousse.

Butterscotch Apple & Mixed Berries Crumble – I’ve got my eye on you!

Hmm, I wonder what else I should order next?
