today elena and i woke up early to have breakfast with steffi as a final send off.
we had coffee and warmed up leftover dinner from last night. towards the end, we slipped a card into her bag and walked her to her car. we hugged, laughed and promised to see each other later (online). when steffi reversed and waved goodbye, her face suddenly turned red and scrunched up, almost as if she was trying her darnest to stop crying.
so this is what it feels like.
