i bought a new sudoku puzzle book from the supermarket today. i have not touched sudoku since january and most puzzle books were overpriced (that being said everything is overpriced in copenhagen.. haha). but i got a 300-puzzle book for 30kr which is considered a real bargain.. so i am pretty thrilled..
somehing struck me today. i need to earn money. i think its the inherent chinese-mentality to make money whenever we go. i mean throughout my travels in europe, i have not seen a single asian beg on the streets. work as a waiter, cleaner.. open a provision shop.. WHATEVER it takes to put some paos on the table! with full knowledge that i would return home to a depleting bank account, i cannot help but think of the summer jobs i need to take up when i get home.
last night i prepared black pepper kalkun using thank-god-for-packaged sauce (courtesy of mum). wassit kalkun? that's turkey in danish. haha.. verdict? i like it! i am always apprehensive whenever i see "black pepper" used as a description on food items.. like "sweet and sour".. insidious descriptions used to mask up less than desirable freshness.. asian flavour massacared by western palates.
but this one retained a smokyable-bodied taste which i think my german friends found it a tad too spicy to handle. authenticity proven.
the aperitive factor was further enhanced with the pairing of rosemary and garlic foccacia bought from the italian deli! a quick toast in the oven brought out its loverly-herby aroma.. topping my bread fix for the day... nothing beats fresh herb bread from the local bakery.. be it singapore, spain, germany or copenhagen.. swoon
a cookie for your thoughts? a craving called out for a chocolate chip cookie fresh from the bakery. live from room 217, as i am eating it right now and blogging at the same time.
hmm.. crunchy. good dose of chocolate chips. though almost overly sweet from bite no. 3 onwards..
oh, i absolutely cannot stand the stupid word verification that blogger has just come up with.
