fishy business.
dinner was held unexpectly at fish and co down at changi airport's terminal 2, as we went to pick jie and jimmy up after their weekend trip to jarkarta.
frankly i was surprised when dad went along with the decision as it was usually asian food that did the job of pleasing his palate.. no complains about the western grub and even more so since i really wanted to be home before ten to catch project runway and grey's anatomy.
unleash the bait!
oh they changed their menu and it is now this bright and pale yellow menu with pleasing clear fonts on clean layouts .. works for me!
we kicked off dinner with their award-winning 'Garlic & Lemon Butter Mussels'.. the hname is seld- explainatory and it was served with slices of baguette which were, hmm, un-toasted. and though the dish was tasty, i did notice that it was not served 'pipping hot'. yes, i sound like madame too-picky, but really hmmm.. i have a thing of for food served hot.. you know, with the steam still bellowing from the dish... for special effects, i guess.
two sizable slabs of grilled fish, prawns lined up military-style, an abundance of calamari, fistful(S) of fries and -still here???- butter rice.. really now! the unrestrained 'seafood platter for two'.. should be renamed 'seafood platter for two starving NS guys' or 'seafood platter for two too-eager-too-gain-five-pounds-overnight crazy fellas'.. a delight to the tastbuds though...
named the "beat fish and chips in town", this is one helluva egotistical dish.. haha.. but substance to style, the foot-long piece of dory fish and chunky fries really does represent the apotheosis of 'compatibility.' battered both sides and deep fried, drizzled with lemon butter sauce.. yumyumyum..
the prawn fettucine with chili cream sauce was a duh- option for yang and though i wasn't tempted to try it.. i gather from a polished plate that she thoroughly enjoyed it. once again, for carbonara- lurvers only.
oh i must commend the nascent but incredibly enthusistic service staff on their unwavering service standards. poilte, attentive, helpful.. i think Family was quite taken aback by how friendly they were. haha..
basically there wasn't any space left for dessert..
but after such a palatial experience, who's complaining?
