dad-day.

dad turned 56 yesterday! though we had a really simple dinner, yang brought back a pork knuckle from cold storage.. it was my first encounter with the knuckle but it was shosho good. what should be re-lablled as "death wish", a bite into the knuckle skin created a gastronomical CRUUNNNCCCHHH!!! guranteed to make your next-seat neighbour grovel in envy.

yet despite the hard-knocking exterior, the meat wrapped within was the 'jet' -juciy, exquisite and tender. best thing is that you are excused from a messy dinner as look at how easily it falls off the bone!

good thing the oktoberfest is just around the corner.. go grab your pork knuckle with a bradwurst sausage and erdinger with your friends.. and immerse in a culture unique to that of ours.

jie bought a vanilla ice cream cake (for lack of a more imaginative name) from haagen daaz. funny how as a child, i always thought that having an ice cream birthday cake would make me the envy of all my friends although it seemed undeservedly frivolous then.

it was good though, sometimes you just cannot beat haagen daaz for ice cream cakes.. unless ben and jerry's decide to give them a run for their money~ i can't hardly wait!
