Crumble

Raspberry Pear Crumble from Edmund's @ SMU.

A couple of days ago, I met up with a few friends for lunch. Following a nondescript fried fish slice soup, I had to get my dessert fix and where better to turn to than Edmund's @ SMU.

According to friends, the SMU graduate's claim to fame are his brownies, which have been declared a "must-try" by Wine and Dine @ AsiaOne. But i wasn't in the mood for something I could easily get out of a Betty Crocker Mix and as discerning as tastebuds go, ALL brownies, in my opinion, taste pretty much similar- like an overdose of chocolate.

With three types of crumbles to choose from, I went for the unusual- raspberry pear. The filling consisted pretty much of raspberry compote mixed with chunky diced pears and hit all the sweet notes with the right amount of saccharine-ness. But truly deserves a blog post was the mouth-watering crumble toppng. All that BUTTER BUTTER BUTTER definitely made for a treat that melts in your mouth, not on your fork!

Ideally, I can imagine having this on a picnic on a cool summer afternoon.. I am starting internship next week, there's only so much time left for me to daydream. Any-ho, I haven't had too much experiences with crumbles so I am going to declare this the best I have had. In fact, when i walked past a CCA booth giving out complementary crumbles (how timely?!), i blatantly picked up a BANANA crumble, which was divine.. I liked it better than the raspberry pear version, in my opinion.

OKAY. I think it's pretty unnatural to devote such a long post about ONE CRUMBLE but you guys get the gist..

Time for Shameless Plug for a Friend.
