t-a-p-a-s.. TAPAS!
eleven of us had a themed-dinner tonight. eleven different types of finger food- well almost. haha
stina and magriet prepared two types of savoury puff pastries encasing feta cheese & spinach and squash & peppers. steffi and birget prepared parma ham with melon and cheese & ham rolls. i particularly enjoyed the aperitive combination of sweet melon and savoury ham. katy prepared bruchettas with an extra touch- pesto spread. johanna spoilt us with nachos and three different types of dips guacamole, cheese and salsa. kiku used taiwanese spices to prepare a tasty pork and broccolli dish- big thank you to kiku's mum. the other steffi prepared mozerella cheese and tomato, coated in balsimic vinegar and olive oil. simple but delightful.
the couldn't-be-helped fingerless food were the desserts. elena's chocolate mousse topped with white chocolate flakes, which was toothsomely done and justine's custard flan, which was eaten warm as it took such a long time to complete.. but the warm custard was just exquisite..
what did i prepare? well it isn't exactly my finest moment. i made fusion. eech. i can't stand that word. i fried rice in onions and kung pao szechuan sauce.. and because i was so anal about the finger food bit, i stuffed the rice into premade tarts and baked them for about ten mins. so they are called 'baked kung pao szechuan fried rice' i am frankly surprised by how well-received it was.. i could only stomach one (despite making enough for everyone to have two).. i mean to me, it wasn't awful, it just wasn't right.. who the heck outs rice in tart shells??? so much for experimental cooking..
