tis' the season to apply for exchange

i do realise that some people are currently applying for exchange back in singapore. so here are a few pointers.

  • cost of living in country. big difference between countries such as poland and denmark.
  • if you plan to travel extensively, the range of budget airlines that fly in and out of the country of residence matters. i hope this helps
  • first language english? personally i would recommend a population that speaks english but does not regard it as their first lagnuage. like in copenhagen, most items in the supermarkets or instructions are in danish.. it is without a doubt slightly nerve wrecking at first but you will appreciate the eventual stretching of character.
  • travelling with a friend is good. -pause-one friend. sig bekendt. un amigo. the worse thing you can do is to surround yourself with fellow singaporeans, form mini colony and cook curry noodles everyday. bad idea unless you crave for your comfort zone. then again, why are you doing the exchange?

on hindsight, please take whatever you read with a pinch of salt.. sometimes you only hear the good stuff.. for now, i can't think of anything more pressing.. will update this list as i go along!

oh dear, i have a sudden craving for my mum's dumplings.. breathe...
