Fool for fou de fafa

Photobucket

Two days ago, I experienced my first day of freedom. I kept myself busy (bad habit, I know) by fixing up appointments and walking around too much. Unfortunately, my poor toes ached badly and I had to get a new pair of flats to alleviate the pain. It was a good day but not quite right, you know what I mean?

Yesterday, with a bit of time to spare before my hair appointment, I asked my mum out for lunch and as she couldn't travel out far, she suggested fou de fafa at Capital Tower.

My first thought was, Huh, go all the way to Tanjong Pagar for salads?

But we went ahead anyway. After all, it is not like I had back-to-back meetings to attend, emails to clear and reports to file right?

I am really glad I got to eat my words and more.

I didn’t want the usual soup-and-salad combi and the pancake lasagne sounded intriguing. Our pancake lasagna looked like the poorer cousin of what this blogger had and I think we could have done with more sauces

The meal gets better, I promise you.

Jay's Pizza was thin flatbread heaped with ham, shredded chicken and spinach. True, it isn’t a real pizza in the strictest sense but I got over that as soon as I took a mouthful of that top-heavy but still-crusty motherload.

Not everyone needs a macho man in their lives but we should all at least try the Machoman Salad once. Tortilla chips, cheese, sausage, chicken, tomatoes and curry cream. On paper, it sounds terrible but “in person,” it is pretty darn awesome. As I dug in deeper, I thought, this tastes a whole lot familiar. Braised pork! I sound crazy I know. Either I am deluded or my tastebuds must be whacked – or both, but I swear the Machoman tastes like comfort Chinese food.

I will not break into song… I will not break into song…

Macho macho man
Every man ought to be a macho macho man

I waddled out of fou de fafa, feeling well-fed but light-hearted. This meal certainly taught me 3 things I already know but need constant reminder:
1. To not be too hard on myself
2. Give everything(one) a chance before judging
3. I can always count on those closest to me to get over my blahness
