San Jose

We spent most of our first weekend in California in a little community located in Silicon Valley called Campbell. Most of the time, there was a "quiet small town" feel but come Sunday, the main street closes for its ever-popular Downtown Campbell Farmers Market.

Midway, we tucked into a falafel pita wrap from Flying Falafel, stuffed with pipping hot falafel balls and hummus.

We also grabbed a vegetable quiche as well as white nectarines and peaches that were in season for breakfast. Though here in Singapore, we are blessed with an abundance of tropical fruits, fruits in California were such as epiphany. More often than not the "western" fruits we get here are sourish or sweet but to the point of being rotten moosh; but here in a humble Farmers Market, I discovered fruits that were plump, crunchy and insanely sweet.

Now, where is my 'I Heart Farmers Market' fridge magnet?
