St Regis Bangkok

BANGKOK WAS AHHH-MUH-ZZZING!!! Kthxbye...

Upon touchdown, we checked into our hotel - St Regis Bangkok. I used to think the hotel was just a place for one to snooze and lose a pretty dollar; but after I veered past quarter-life crisis, I realized how wrong that assumption was and that the hotel matters as much if not more than the destination.

Can't rough these old bones up no more...

Though we were told there would be a 30-minute wait for the room ("finishing touches by the butler"), it was ready before our drinks arrived. Despite so, we continued with our pick-me-up at The Drawing Room, as after all, what's the rush?

Five-star efficiency plus overpriced drinks in an elegant setting equals Honey, it's vacation time. Love honey-roasted macadamia nuts.

Talk about a warm reception. I spent too much time in bed for the wrong reason though - more on that in a while.

Too bad I couldn't fit the beautiful coffee table in our luggage.

Every morning, the wake-up call would be followed by coffee or tea served up to our room. The accompanying cookies were a good reason to get out of bed for.

We had breakfast at Viu on the third day as I wasn't feeling too well (thus spending a better part of my day in bed).

Couldn't bring myself to have anything else but pork congee for breakfast.

Kw's Spanish omelet was under-seasoned *reaches for table salt*

Need to work on cam-whoring skills.

Greenhorn.

Moving on...

Er, I fell ill in Bangkok... and how does going on a holiday while ill make me spoilt? Hmmm

Bernice, I'm so sorry I accidentally deleted your comment. But yes, can't overstress the importance of a good hotel!

I've fully recovered, thank you!

Feel you on the hotel being increasingly important, yo! Haha we are growing old indeed.....

I share your love for BKK. Want to go back like NOW. Btw weather end of Dec was a lot less humid - perhaps we had a lucky patch of cool clouds and rain but I found it enjoyable even - for my picky skin, this was a blessing. Perhaps you could try end Dec next time ;-)

Totally agree with hotel being important! We often bum around in the hotel after a couple hours of shopping too. :D

Btw may I know how did you book the hotel room because I found a deal without breakfast from http://www.trivago.sg/bangkok-519/hotel/the-st-regis-bangkok-1702025 and was wondering if it is better to book via the hotel website.
